Warlord Decks on the Duck

From Squirrel, posted to the list Oct 9, 2001

Hi all, I'm new to this list. I know Nick has mentioned Sunday's tournament in Columbus and I'd like to add my $0.02. I was lucky enough to walk away with First Prize, and I say "lucky" because Lady Fortuna definitely deserves her share of credit. My deck is a Duchess blitz deck that draws from the best and brightest level 1 and 2 fighters available. It's certainly not unbeatable but it's light and fast and very fun to play. Deck posted below, feedback appreciated.

Eric Steiger is The Man and runs a most excellent tournament. Thanks to Eric and all the tourney participants for a great time!

[Editor's note: Squirrel has since updated this deck, and gone on to win one of the Mega Tour stops. The update will be posted as soon as I get it. In the meantime, you can see a report of this tourney and a picture of his 19 strong front line here at the Danger Room.]

* The starting lineup is very flexible. Cador-Urg-Cador, Maddawc-Urg-Maddwc, or a combination works best for the front line depending on what you want to hit in their second rank. Ss-saurth is an amazing second rank starter as he's fairly tough and can take his extra strike when he moves to the front. Valanthe is also nice to start if your opponent has no front-line range striking.

* I like Cador rather than Whispershot because of his +4 range strike. No other level 1 has anything remotely as powerful and it often comes in handy.

* Sir Sorlons stands as the lone level 3 fighter since he can use a Riding Horse or War Horse to get up front and swinging right away. His +5 attack is great for hitting the enemy warlord.

* Demon of Kvar is Mister Lockdown for that level 5 that hits the enemy front rank. If he gets both a Ring of Vorn and a Riding Horse he can dance up and hit second rankers too.

* Timmuk is my go-to guy. Brine Fiends, Cyclops, Guardians, he ate them all. He even managed to lay money shots on people like Rathe, Behlial, and a Basalt Gargoyle. Very useful dude, especially with a Breastplate of Power in his rank.

Enjoy,
squirrel
