Warlord Decks on the Duck

From Dunchan Bachan, creator of the WarLeague, playtester, and all-round show-off!
I took the ideas behind Rac Magic Woman and Dual Wielding Gethseme and came up with the following deck:

    Gethseme Steelshard

    Stone x3
    Madness x3
    Guardian x2
    Wall x2
    Tyren Ruskin x2
    Douglass Hamerfall x3
    Sky x2
    StrongArm x2
    Edge x2
    Demon of Kvar x3
    Saul Tombcarver x2
    Earth Elemental x3

    Imperial Amulet x1
    Khrutyk Steed x2
    Havat-lahn Stance x2
    Bruntor's Helm x2
    Black Steel Dagger x3
    NoThRoG S'sike x3
    Portable Hole x3

    Death Rune x3
    Rune of Swift Striking x3
    War Rune x2
    Instructed by Rren'the x3
    Nimble Fingers x3

    ------------
Overall it was 9-3 in swiss and 3-3 in the finals (that's games not matches).

    Things I plan on changing:
    1) Removal of War Rune
    - The bonus you are getting from the BSD and Getheme's base attack, plus the Krt Steed really don't need the extra +4. Amulet of Waking may hurt this strategy a bit, but I'd like to open the spot for 2 other actions.
    - Its a level 4 mage spell, so only the EE can cast it
    2) Naomi of Sakaria for Earth Elemental.
-One thing this deck lacks is healing, and a few hits on a relatively low armor class tend to mess you up. Naomi can pitch runes for healing if needed.
-Earth Elementals are only useful to cast War Rune, which I'm dropping
    - Naomi can cast Holy Energy if I add that instead of the War Rune
    3) Either Quick and Deadly or Holy Energy in the two spots vacated by War Rune.
    - When I hit them, I need to make sure it goes through. Have your Back, Urg, Too fast to See, Viscious Block, etc etc. screw with that strategy. I think Q&D would be a good addition to make the large punch stay.
    - Holy Energy is good for using Trained by Rrenthe and still being able to do something else that turn.
-Movement. Getheme gets to the front on turn one ONLY if you draw a Portable Hole. Other wise its round 2 (with a Kth Steed) or round 3 with neither.
    4) Decay for Nimble Fingers.
    - Her skill is too low. at +5, you still have a better chance of losing the game if she misses. With the addition of Naomi, and I have enough clerics to handle the guaranteed item destruction.

Khrutyk Steed ROCKS. That's a base +14 melee strike besides doing something else. Great combo with Portable Hole. Add in your Rune of Death and Sky and you've got alot of strikes. It's well worth waiting a round ot have it available. Sometimes it was my strongest attack. I'd attack with it first, and wait for the spend on the BSD.

Demon of Kvar and BSD, enough said. Helped me plenty of times. Hit a BlackWind, then killed it one shot on strike one. Had hit the Ashreign the previous turn, so I killed that on shots two and three. I took down two dragons spending for one attack.

I typically started 3 Stone, 1 Guardian, 1 Wall. I needed the cleric in case I pulled a EE early. Probably going back to two Guardians until I make the switch to new Seige cards.

Since there isn't alot of typically rogue defense, you are relying on Douglass and Tyren to handle the shots coming at you, while you are breaking ranks and ssiking everything that falls forward.

The match I lost in swiss was to a Robert blitz. Third game he knew he was in trouble. He wins initiative and wearing a Bracers throws three shots at me. Douglass #1, Douglass #2. His third attack was preceeded by two Great Cleaves and then hits with a 16 for two more wounds. I had 4 HP to deal with. Not sure if I need (have room) for more healing in here.

The opponents started getting wise and picking on the Tyrens and Douglass' early when they saw that strategy.

Not sure what to do with the two empty spots now, I've also kicked around Shade Lions as a possibility. Saul is there to use the backup BSD and Portable Holes that Getheme isn't (and the holes I'm not pitching to themself for a card).

Not sure Edge is doing it for me either. I might put a Basalt in its spot, just for the meat for now -- or Alric for early rank breaking.

It certainly suprised the hell outta people that I was playing her, and no one expected much of it, until it started hitting them like crazy.

A real blitz might give it trouble, and I didnt face a Yscar or a Rathe, so a fewbackstabs and assassinates would prbably ruin my dead. It did go head to head with a X0d and win though.
