Warlord Decks on the Duck

This is the most recent varient of the Deck that Matt Ledgerwood used at Gencon UK, he placed second after Malk. The deck is also listed on Deverania.com

Like most Rathe decks I have seen it revolves around the man himself and this is the closest thing that I have seen to an effective speed deck. All the characters, apart from Johan Halfblood, can attack the turn they enter play.

The basic tactic with the deck is to simply use the lower level characters to cause illegal ranks and force the enemy Warlord, hopefully stunned, into the first rank. Then use Rathe with Assassination to kill them.

With a lot of killer item decks out there you have 3 Nimble Fingers, that Rathe can't fail (apart from a 1 so be careful). Also you have Daggers that add an adittional attacks to front line characters and give a ranged attack, which is excellent! Johan's ability allows Rathe, with Relentless to move from the third rank and attack.

Though there are a lot of high level Rogue actions in the deck, if they can't be used they can instead be discarded to allow Rathe to be in the right place at the right time.

If you don't have the cards then you can easily replace some of the deck...

• Both Yedraw's Tooth and Poison Dagger can be replaced by Long Swords
• Too Fast To See can be Dodge or Sand In Your Eyes
• Relentless and the Dwarven Signet can just be taken out
• Johan can be replaced by any other high level Rogue
• The Wyvernsting Bow can go for any other bow if you want, its just to allow Rathe to attack while you don't want him on the front line.

The Assassinations, however, are needed.
