Tournament play, especially for major tournaments such as national championships, is very different to social play, or to fun games played in local stores. If you want to do well, especially if you want to win, you need to be prepared. VERY prepared. There is of course nothing wrong with the idea of attending or participating in a tournament merely for the enjoyment of the games, but do not expect to win if you have not done any groundwork. I have been playing CCGs for years; I have compiled this article from the accumulated 'wisdom' of years of playing and reading too many magazines for any sane person to deal with:) For those of you that have also been playing CCGs for years, you'll find most of this isn't new, but you might find some of the ideas usefull anyway; I did. People who've been reading industry mags for the last 5 or more years might also recognise many of the ideas. Any comments/ criticisms welcome.
